How To Delete And Restore Recycle Bin From Desktop

Here are some tips on how you can permanently delete Recycle Bin icon from the desktop and how to recover or restore the deleted Recycle Bin icon on your desktop.
Firstly, follow these step by step instructions to delete a Recycle Bin icon from your Windows computer desktop.


  • Open Registry Editor (Start > Run > type “regedit.exe” and hit Enter)
  • Navigate to the following location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
    Explorer\Destkop\NameSpace\
  • And delete the following key {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}
  • Restart the computer and you are all done. The Recycle Bin is no more on your desktop.

Now you may want to restore the deleted Recycle Bin, it is as simple as deleting it so follow these steps to recover the deleted Recycle Bin.

  • Open your Registry Editor (Start > Run > type “regedit.exe” and hit Enter)
  • Navigate to the following location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\
    CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace
  • Now remember to delete the Recycle Bin you deleted a key {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}. Now we will create it back to get Recycle Bin back on our desktop. After you have navigated on above path, right click on NameSpace, click New and then click Key.
  • Name the key : {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}
  • This is it. Close the Registry Editor and you will see the Recycle Bin back on your desktop.
