Hottest PC Tricks For You..!!

Hottest PC Tricks For You..!!

Speed up Mozilla Firefox about 3-30x Faster!!!
If your a firefox lover like me then you should try this.

1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll
down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time.
When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really
speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This
means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer.
Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0".
This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages 2-30 times faster now.
2.An Excellent Notepad Trick
Open a blank Notepad file

* Write .LOG as the first line of the file, press enter.

* Save the file and close it.

* Double-click the file to open it and notice that Notepad appends the current date and time to the end of the file and places the cursor on the line after.

* Type your notes and then save and close the file.

Each time you open the file, Notepad repeats the process, appending the time and date to the end of the file and placing the cursor below it.

4. Make Your Windows Xp Run Faster Than Never Before
DISABLE INDEXING SERVICES
Indexing Services is a small little program that uses large amounts of RAM and can often make a computer endlessly loud and noisy. This system process indexes and updates lists of all the files that are on your computer. It does this so that when you do a search for something on your computer, it will search faster by scanning the index lists. If you don't search your computer often, or even if you do search often, this system service is completely unnecessary. To disable do the following:

1. Go to Start
2. Click Settings
3. Click Control Panel
4. Double-click Add/Remove Programs
5. Click the Add/Remove Window Components
6. Uncheck the Indexing services
7. Click Next

OPTIMISE DISPLAY SETTINGS

Windows XP can look sexy but displaying all the visual items can waste system resources. To optimise:

1.Go to Start
2. Click Settings
3. Click Control Panel
4. Click System
5. Click Advanced tab
6. In the Performance tab click Settings
7. Leave only the following ticked:
- Show shadows under menus
- Show shadows under mouse pointer
- Show translucent selection rectangle
- Use drop shadows for icons labels on the desktop
- Use visual styles on windows and buttons

DISABLE PERFORMANCE COUNTERS

Windows XP has a performance monitor utility which monitors several areas of your PC's performance. These utilities take up system resources so disabling is a good idea.

To disable:

1. download and install the Extensible Performance Counter List (Windows 2000 Server)
2.Then select each counter in turn in the 'Extensible performance counters' window and clear the 'performance counters enabled' checkbox at the bottom.button below.

Check if an Image is Original or Fake

Check if an Image is Original or Fake

The world is witnessing lots of photo editing tweaks that sometimes make us feel that whether an image is originally taken or is it the photoshoper’s art that has made it look what it appears to be.Many times we see leaked images of upcoming products on the web, but in most cases these images turn out to be created using Photoshop or other image editing software. Now you can judge whether an image is taken by a digital camera and is original or whether the image is edited in Photoshop. JPEGsnoop is a free application which can detect whether the image was edited or is original.

The decoding of inner details includes matching of the signature stored in its internal database for the camera model used to capture the image against large number of editing signatures. The compression signature if matches with Photoshop, then in most case the image has been edited.JPEGsnoop can detect various settings that were used in the digital camera in taking the photo (EXIF metadata, IPTC) and also compares an image against a large number of compression signatures. JPEGsnoop reports what digital camera or software was likely used to generate the image. This is extremely useful in determining whether or not a photo has been edited/tampered in any way.For those who are camera enthusiasts, these informations can help them get better JPEG image suited to their needs. Here are the results of test conducted on 2 images- one of them edited using Paint and other one was original one taken from a camera.

Here you can see that the application reports the image as processed or edited.

And here you can see that the application returns the assessment as “Image has high probability of being original” and the image was not edited and was taken with Canon digital camera.

JPEGsnoop, developed by ImpulseAdventure.com, is absolutely free for
download.

.
JPEGsnoop will open and attempt to decode any file that contains an embedded JPEG image, such as:

  1. .JPG - JPEG Still Photo

  2. .THM - Thumbnail for RAW Photo / Movie Files

  3. .AVI* - AVI Movies

  4. .DNG - Digital Negative RAW Photo

  5. .CRW, .CR2, .NEF, .ORF, .PEF - RAW Photo

  6. .MOV* - QuickTime Movies, QTVR (Virtual Reality / 360 Panoramic)

  7. .PDF - Adobe PDF Documents

10 Useful Google Chrome Tips And Tricks

You have enjoyed Google’s browser experience and speed that Chrome has to offer. It is time to dig more about Chrome and see what you can do to make Chrome more users friendly. Here I am sharing some tips on how you can get a rich user experience while using Google Chrome.

Search from URL bar

Chrome does not have a search bar like Firefox. To perform search in Chrome, simply type search phrase in URL bar and hit Enter. Chrome will perform a Google research for your phrase.

Change omnibox suggestion count

By default Chrome shows 5 URL suggestions when you type a URL.

In Windows right click on Chrome shortcut icon and select properties. In the Target field, add this command line switch to the end of command.
–omnibox-popup-count=your_desirable_suggestions_count

Change Chrome Theme

If you want to change the Chrome default theme to personalize it more, here are easy steps to change Chrome theme

  • Download a Chrome theme
  • Extract the default.dll file
  • Navigate to Chrome installation directory and go to /Application/Chrome/Version/Theme folder. The chrome version will be in the form of 0.2.129.27. Replace the default.dll file in the folder with the default.dll that you extracted.

How To Hide A Drive In Windows

How To Hide A Drive In Windows

Here is a short tutorial on how you can hide a drive/ disk partition in Windows. I used it to hide a drive in Windows XP and it works great. You do not need any software for this purpose. Follow these instructions to hide a drive in Windows.

  • Go in Run > Start and type “diskpart”.
  • Type “list volume” in new Window and press Enter. You will see a list of your hard drive partitions and other details.
  • Now let’s say we want to hide “h” drive here. Type “select volume h” and press Enter.
  • Now type “remove letter h” and this H drive is now deleted.

You can check in My Computer that “H” drive is not showing anymore and is removed. You can always bring this removed “H” drive back.
To unhide or bring back the hidden drive. Go to Run > Start and type “diskpart” and now type “assign letter h” (instead of “remove letter h”) and hit Enter.

The “H” drive is back and will show in your My Computer Window.
How To Delete And Restore Recycle Bin From Desktop

How To Delete And Restore Recycle Bin From Desktop

Here are some tips on how you can permanently delete Recycle Bin icon from the desktop and how to recover or restore the deleted Recycle Bin icon on your desktop.
Firstly, follow these step by step instructions to delete a Recycle Bin icon from your Windows computer desktop.

  • Open Registry Editor (Start > Run > type “regedit.exe” and hit Enter)
  • Navigate to the following location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
    Explorer\Destkop\NameSpace\
  • And delete the following key {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}
  • Restart the computer and you are all done. The Recycle Bin is no more on your desktop.

Now you may want to restore the deleted Recycle Bin, it is as simple as deleting it so follow these steps to recover the deleted Recycle Bin.

  • Open your Registry Editor (Start > Run > type “regedit.exe” and hit Enter)
  • Navigate to the following location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\
    CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace
  • Now remember to delete the Recycle Bin you deleted a key {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}. Now we will create it back to get Recycle Bin back on our desktop. After you have navigated on above path, right click on NameSpace, click New and then click Key.
  • Name the key : {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}
  • This is it. Close the Registry Editor and you will see the Recycle Bin back on your desktop.
Now these are some basic tweaks to delete and then recover Recycle Bin from your desktop. Windows Vista users have more easy way to delete the Recycle Bin

Convert Your Old Optical Mouse CCD into a Scanner !

Convert Your Old Optical Mouse CCD into a Scanner !

Are you using an optical mouse right now? Ever wanted to see your desktop through the eye on the bottom of it? Me neither, I already know I have to clean my desktop

People get bored sometimes, and when I get bored I sometimes open up stuff to find out what makes it tick. One time, I did this with an old optical mouse. Well, a mouse only has 2 chips inside: the optical sensor and a chip for the usb/ps2-interfacing. I looked up the datasheet of the optical sensor (which is an ADNS2610) and it told me the sensor has a tiny 18x18 CCD, which can be read out using the serial port (the one which normally interfaces to the PS2/USB-chip).

So I start Visual Basic (I usually do my stuff under Linux, but I'm no star at using anything graphical like QT or GTK, so for this quick'n'dirty project I fell back in my old habits) and hack something up using a few wires to the trusty ole parallel port. The result: crisp lo-res b&w imaging

As you can see, the mouse was over some text with an 'e' in it.

One of the more obvious features of a mouse, however, is that it can detect movement. Combine this with the just-aquired imaging features, and we have a ghetto b&w handscanner. This is a 'scanned' piece of a receipt:

I can understand you can't wait to have such a handy scanner yourself. And now, you can! The software is downloadable here.

Code:
http://sprite.student.utwente.nl/~jeroen/projects/mouseeye/readmouse.zip

The software works on mice which use an ADNS-2610 optical sensor, recognisable by the eight pins, the sun-like mark and the text 'A2610'. I've seen this sensor in most cheap optical mice that aren't too old. To hook it up, check out the pinout in the datasheet, then on the PCB cut the traces running from the sensors SCK- and SDIO-pins to the rest of the mouse. Then connect the sensor, using a diode, to a parallel port, like this:

pp: adns-2610:
25-----------------GND

12----------+------SDIO
5 -----|<|--+

9 -----------------SCK

Plug in the USB/PS2-plug (or apply 5V to the Vcc-pin of the sensor), run the software and you should be OK
How to preview movies from multi part .rar Archives without having all parts

How to preview movies from multi part .rar Archives without having all parts

Many ppl download all parts to check the quality of the current movie they are downloading not knowing that they can preview and even extract parted files without having all the parts...

It's sure frustrating to download a multi part movie, just to find out u already have it or don't want it. Using Winrar u can preview, not sure if any, but most movies just with one part of it. It have to be the 1st part, though.

To preview the movie e.g. .mpg- .wmv- .avi- .mp3-files by downloading only the first part.
U'll need:
1. Winrar Archiver
2. Password for the RAR Archive, if it is password protected
3. A Media Player like Jet Audio, WMP Classic, Winamp or WMP etc..............

This is how:
Lets assume that u want to preview a movie that has been divided into X RAR Archives named - , anynicepronmov.part1.rar, anynicepronmov.part2.rar, anynicepronmov.part3.rar and so on.

Download anynicepronmov.part1.rar and open it with Winrar. Cick the [ EXTRACT ]-button.

NOTE: Very important! Check the [ Keep broken files ]-box

To save anynicepronmov.part1.rar u, as usual, either enter a custom address or u leave it at default. Click [ EXTRACT ]-button. Enter the password if prompted and click [ OK ].

Now u'll be prompted to give the path for the next part. Just Click [ Cancel ] and [ Close ] on the error-dialog that pops-up.

Find the path and the extracted file. There's ur preview. Play the file with ur default Media Player.
Sometimes while trying to preview .avi files u may get an error. u can remedy this by playing it in some other player like, VLC Player

Ur done and hopefully saved a lot of time and space... hehe...

Restarting Windows without Restarting your PC

Restarting Windows without Restarting your PC

A modern PC with Vista Home Edition takes about one and a half minutes to
boot. An older machine with XP is about the same. That's 30 seconds for the
PC itself (the BIOS) to boot up, plus a minute for the Windows operating
system to boot.

Sometimes, you need to reboot Windows (e.g. When installing new software),
but there is no need to restart BIOS, too. However, the default is to reboot
both. (That's called doing a "cold boot," rather than a "warm boot.")
There's a trick that works on both XP and Vista to get it to do a warm boot
instead, thus saving you 30 seconds per cycle.

The trick is to hold down the SHIFT key when invoking the restart.

Windows Vista: Select Start, then hover over the right arrow that is to the
right of the padlock icon until the pop-up menu appears that contains
"restart" as one of it's choices. Hold down the SHIFT key while clicking on
the "restart" choice.

Windows XP: Select Start. Select "Shut Down…". Change the drop-down combo
box under "What do you want the computer to do?" to "Restart". Hold down the
SHIFT key while clicking on the "OK" button.

Enable Hotmail Pop3 In All Countries

Enable Hotmail Pop3 In All Countries

Microsoft has announced a change to the Hotmail email provider service that they offer. The feature to access Hotmail accounts using a POP3 connection will be gradually enabled for all Hotmail accounts. Gradually meaning that only users from some countries like Germany, Italy or the United Kingdom are currently able to connect to Hotmail via POP3 while others have to wait until Microsoft enables POP3 access for their countries as well.

There his however a simple method to enable POP3 access in Hotmail right away independently from where you are accessing Hotmail. Microsoft is checking the location stored in the Hotmail account to determine if a account should have POP3 access. All that needs to be done to enable both POP3 is therefor to change that location in the Hotmail account profile.

To do that select More Options by hovering the mouse over Options in Hotmail. Select View and edit your personal information in Manage your account and click on Registered Information. Information about the location should appear. Edit those information so that they are in a country that currently supports Hotmail POP3. You can later change it back if POP3 support is added for your country as well.

One easy way to find an address is to search for hotels in London using a search engine and copy their information into Hotmail. Make sure you change the postal code, timezone and country in the menu. You can for instance use that postal code for London: SW1V 4BN

Now that you have enabled POP3 access you need to configure your email client to access Hotmail this way.

QUOTE
Incoming Server: pop3.live.com
Incoming Port: 995
SSL Encryption: yes

Outgoing Server: smtp.live.com
outgoing port: 25
Authentication: yes
TLS Or SSL: yes

The username and password are the same that are used to log into the Hotmail site.
