One of the few problems of UltraSurf is that when used it does not automatically change the proxy settings for Firefox. This means that it does not change your IP address when browsing with Firefox. You have to change these settings manually. Not very convenient, isn’t it?
To solve this problem, a Firefox add-on is available for download that does exactly this: changes the proxy settings when using UltraSurf. The plugin lets you enable and disable UltraSurf on the bottom bar of the browser. You still need to have UltraSurf program running, but at least you don’t have to change the proxy settings every time you want to use/ stop using it.
Here is what you have to do to make it work:
- Open Firefox
- Download the Firefox add-on
- Unzip the file
- Drag the wjbutton_en.xpi file to Firefox window
- Click the “Install” button in the pop-up window to install it. The UltraSurf icon will show at the right-bottom of the firefox window.
- Close all firefox windows and re-open firefox.
- A grey-out UltraSurf icon means UltraSurf is disabled. Click it to enable/disable it.
- Start UltraSurf program and enable the Firefox add-on. If you don’t have UltraSurf installed, download the .exe file and run it.
- To change the settings or uninstall it, go to “tools/add-ons” of Firefox.
It’s that simple!
